Jeb Bush endorses Matt Gaetz in race to replace Sansom
Matt Gaetz, a candidate for Ray Sansom's District 4 House seat, announced today that he had secured Jeb Bush's endorsement. "In times like this, believe in Matt Gaetz," Bush said.
Gaetz is one of several GOP candidates vying to replace Sansom, who quit last Sunday in order to avoid a House hearing into his dealings with a Panhandle college and developer Jay Odom.
Gaetz did legal work for Odom and the controversial airport building, presenting a possible issue in the compressed special election. He was also a legislative aide to Sansom. But the son of Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, has a giant fundraising lead over his rivals and should be able to counter any negative connotations.
