Jeb: Glad the Gloves Are Off
Jeb Bush said Thursday that he doesn't consider the recent flurry of biting Republican gubernatorial ads as personal attacks.
"Having a debate about issues is fair game. I guess, I had forgotten about the Fidel Castro ad in 1994. Sometimes those things work, a lot of times they don't. People will make up their own minds about this." (Crist's new ad points out that 12 years ago, Gallagher had criticized Jeb's views on trade, and linked Jeb to Fidel Castro.)
"I think it will strengthen the Republican candidate if there's a discussion about these ideas. So long as there are no personal attacks, it's hard for someone from the outside to come in and say: Thou shall not do this."
"By Florida political standards this has been a pretty serene campaign season," Jeb added.
