Jeb's endangered appointees
Calling Phil Handy ... make that recalling Phil Handy.
Gov. Charlie Crist next week will recall some of Jeb Bush's lame-duck appointments and reappointments to boards and commissions. Nothing too unusual about that on the surface, but the Board of Education is a place where Crist could make a statement about the future of education policy by booting Handy, who was reappointed by Bush last Oct. 27 along with T. Willard Fair.
(The Buzz predicts Handy will leave, Fair will remain). But this could signal the beginning of the end of John Winn's tenure as education commissioner. Read more in Steve Bousquet's column.
