Jennifer Carroll to lead South Africa trade mission

carroll.jpgLt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll will lead a trade mission to South Africa from Nov. 4-13, according to an Enterprise Florida news release this morning.

According to the state's main economic development arm, South Africa is a "top destination" for Florida exports for aircraft engines and parts, earth-moving equipment and plastic products. It's also one of the state's largest merchandise export destinations.

Several Florida cities, air and sea ports and universities have sister-relationships or long-standing exchange programs with counterparts in Africa, according to the release.

This will be Carroll's first second foreign trade mission as lieutenant governor (she went to Brazil and Taiwan as a state House lawmaker). UPDATE: Carroll went to England and Spain in October. Gov. Rick Scott has led missions to Panama and Canada and is scheduled to visit Brazil in October.
