Joe Scarborough contradicts John Cornyn's NRSC denial

Part III of the saga over finding a Republican to challenge Bill Nelson: The Hill is now out with a story that quotes Joe Scarborough as saying John Cornyn wanted him to run against Bill Nelson. (He also says he has no interest)

Cornyn's shop earlier today pushed back aggressively against such reports, saying the GOP recruiter was talking to Scarborough about running in New York. "This story is false," National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesman Brian Walsh said an hour ago. "They had a casual conversation last cycle about Joe possibly running for the New York Senate seat. That was the context of the Senator’s comments yesterday – not Florida – and unfortunately The Hill got this dead wrong. We already have plenty of great candidates looking at the Florida Senate race and we’re confident any one of them can beat Bill Nelson in 2012."

So who is telling the truth, Cornyn or Scarborough? And what does this all say about what Republicans think of the fledgling GOP field in Florida? Florida Democrats suggest it means that party bosses don’t think any of their current potentials -- Senate President Mike Haridopolos, former Sen. George LeMieux, Adam Hasner or Connie Mack -- have what it takes to oust Nelson.
