A jury of four women and two men was selected Friday to decide the fate of Ray Sansom, the former House speaker accused of grand theft and conspiracy in his dealings as House budget chairman that allegedly benefited a political benefactor, Jay Odom.

Sansom and Odom are accused of conspiring to use tax money to build a building in Destin to serve as both an emergency operations center and hangar for Odom's airplanes. Both men have denied wrongdoing. A third defendant, former Northwest Florida State College president Bob Richburg, has struck a deal with the state and will testify against Sansom and Odom

It took about five hours to empanel a jury in Circuit Judge Terry Lewis' courtroom. The jurors include a cashier at Publix, a junior at FSU who works as a waitress, an employee of the Auditor General's office, an office manager for a medical practice, a consultant to start-up businesses and an employee of FSU's human resources department.  The trial begins Monday and will last at least a week.
