Justice: It's about Schiavo
State Rep. Charlie Justice hopes the politics of Terri Schiavo helps his chances in the closely watched Senate District 16 race. Speaking at a Suncoast Tiger Bay Club luncheon Thursday, Justice was quick to point out both his Republican opponents -- state Reps. Kim Berfield and Frank Farkas -- voted to intervene in the Schiavo case, while he did not.
"These issues are going to come up again," said Justice of St. Petersburg. "And it's crystal clear who is going to stand up for you in Tallahassee." Earlier, Justice said government should not meddle in "personal tragedies."
On a lighter note: Farkas slipped up during his opening remarks saying it would be tough to replace term-limited state Sen. Jim Sebesta. "He's done such a great job for this area, but unfortunately becaue of term limits, he's going to be passing on." When Justice took the microphone minutes later, he first acknowledged his wife, then turned to Sebesta, who was in the crowd: "Senator Sebesta, I think you look great!"
