Justice's Budget Amendment

Sen. Charlie Justice, D- St. Petersburg, who has a stymied bill that would prevent local governments from using tax dollars to campaign for local referendums, offered a budget amendment on Thursday to give $1 million to the "Pinellas Delegation Public Education Pilot Program." The money would have gone to the Pinellas delegation to educate the public on local issues, implying it would go to oppose the campaigning done by local governments.

The amendment was a joke to highlight the point of his bill, and he withdrew the amendment, saying, "I still think it’s a ridiculous practice and I withdraw this amendment."
