Karen Thurman, James Carville hold train wreck of a pro-Kendrick Meek conference call
Just finished up a rocky media conference called aimed at showing how strongly the Florida Democratic party and national Democrats are behind Kendrick Meek. James Carville, his voice muted out for a bit, spoke for about 18 seconds, mentioning something about Bill Clinton coming and Meek "forging ahead" before hanging up, citing another appointment.
The highlight was Franklin Sands telling somebody he'd brought along his vitamins. "Franklin! We can all hear you,'' state Democratic Chairwoman Karen Thurman shouted.Thurman said Kendrick is gaining ground in the polls (though polls show him mired way back in third place). On the talk about Meek quitting, she said, "There have been a lot of rumors, and they need to stop."
"The rumors that have been put out, I think by the Crist campaign, are kind of offensive, especially in my district in South Florida, that he should bow out," chimed in state Sen. Chris Smith. "We've got a young man that's done a tremendous amount for the state of Florida and has slayed many Goliaths in Florida."
