Kendrick Meek scoffs at Charlie Crist
Meek responds to Crist's last minute blow-off of the Forum Club. Here's the letter he wrote the club earlier this month.
“Leadership is about giving a voice to the voiceless and standing with friends who are being wronged, and Governor Charlie Crist is doing neither. From the outset we worked with organized labor and the Forum Club, asking for a change of venue in show of solidarity with striking workers, but Governor Crist did not act in kind. Now Governor Crist has changed his tune and chosen an act of political maneuvers. To get religion after services have let out for the day is not an act of faith. If the governor does not want to use his soon-to-be expired political status to stand up for working families, that’s his decision. Governor Crist has never stood with working men and women – why would he start now? Kendrick will walk the picket line in solidarity with Florida’s working families and will give voice to workers’ concerns and not abandon organized labor. We are happy to speak at the Forum Club tomorrow at another location, but not at the Kravis Center, as we always stated.”
