Lanny Wiles, Scott's advance man, gets new gig with Cardenas
For those following the money, another Rick Scott veteran has been hired to lobby the governor and legislature: Lanny Wiles, a long-time D.C. political operative, advance man extraordinaire for Scott, and husband of Scott's campaign manager, Susie Wiles, will be cashing in on his newfound Tallahassee clout. He's just been hired by The Advocacy Group of Cardenas Partners, the lobbying firm run by former Republican Party of Florida chairman Al Cardenas.
Wiles, a Jacksonville native who served officially as "Tour Director" for the Scott campaign and advisor to the inaugural, has been a longtime Washington, D.C. lobbyist for the PGA Tour. He has also worked for five national presidential campaigns, the White House, and served as strategist for United States Senate and House of Representative candidates and three gubernatorial campaigns.
According to the news release, Wiles' issue areas include: energy, pharmaceuticals, defense technologies, not-for-profits, agricultural matters, professional sports tax issues, aviation policy, transportation modes and others.
Cardenas Partners' lobbying clients include: Progress Energy , AT&T, the Florida Association of Realtors, Advantage Capital Partners, Asphalt Contractors Association, The Camelot Group, Coastal Maritime Stevedoring, The Florida Consortium of Charter Schools, Florida High Speed Rail LLC, Preferred Care Partners, Wynn Resorts, and The Villages.
