Leadership changes in the House
Buzz hears Marco Rubio is changing up things in the House. Awaiting details, but at least one change calls for Rep. Frank Attkisson, R-Kissimmee, to chair the Gov't Efficiency & Accountability Council.
Attkisson will replace Andy Gardiner (right), who is running for Daniel Webster's Senate seat. Both reps have one year left in the House before facing term limits. Rubio previously said that leadership positions could change after the first year of his tenure. But Gardiner did vote against Rubio's tax swap. Rubio may also dispatch his energy chairman, Rep. Bob Allen.
Meanwhile, the Florida Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Gardiner.
E-mail the Chamber has sent in support of Gardiner:
As Florida's Business Advocate, we take our responsibility to recognize and support pro-business candidates who fight for jobs and Florida's future very seriously. We know from experience that many employers and pro-business groups base their financial support on candidates recommended by the Florida Chamber.
The Florida Chamber fully supports Rep. Andy Gardiner (R-Orlando) as the pro-business candidate for the 2008 election in Senate District 9 and our political program has provided him the maximum contributions allowed under Florida law.
I urge you to personally thank Andy Gardiner for his past support and to do whatever you can to assist him with his campaign for the State Senate so that he may continue to effectively advocate on behalf of Florida businesses.
