LeMieux brings Mack's brawls to the radio in new ad

George LeMieux today began a radio ad attacking his GOP U.S. Senate primary rival Connie Mack over an array of issues, from missed votes to bar fights. The ad stretches the truth in spots. The missed votes were a snapshot from a few weeks earlier this year and the claim that he did not pay "family support" is based on a 12 day late "temporary alimony" payment.

Still, there's enough there to paint an unflattering portrait of Mack, who entered the race late and became the instant Republican front-runner. A Rasmussen robo poll released today showed Mack leading incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson 43, 36. In a matchup with LeMieux, Nelson leads 41, 38.

The radio ad started today statewide, the campaign says, and will play in Tampa. The campaign would not say how long it will play or disclose the size of the buy. LeMieux anti-Mack ad by learyreports
