LeMieux proposes a September debate with Hasner and Haridopolos
George LeMieux wants to debate his U.S. Senate primary rivals at the September "Presidency 5" event.
LeMieux proposed the idea in a letter to Republican Party of Florida Chairman Dave Bitner as well as his primary rivals Adam Hasner and Mike Haridopolos.
"Florida will again be at the epicenter of the political world in 2012 with 29 contested electoral votes, the home to the Republican National Convention, and the most critical Senate race in the country," LeMieux wrote. "With so much attention focused on Florida, it is critical that Republicans have an opportunity to hear directly from the Senate candidates and that is why I am proposing that the Republican Party of Florida hold a televised debate at the Presidency 5 in September."
Hasner spokesman Rick Wilson said, "Sounds like a great idea. Adam is looking forward to debating the other candidates in the race and highlighting his record and philosophy of limited-government conservatism. We know that the RPOF has been working on this for some time, and we've already expressed our eagerness to work with their schedule and at Chairman Bitner's convenience."
