Littlefield: I'm ready to serve
Surrounded by family and basking in a waterfall of praise from fellow commissioners, Ken Littlefield and Isilio Arriaga were sworn in earlier today to the Public Service Commission. "Take a moment to try out that chair and see how it feels," Chairwoman Lisa Polak Edgar told Littlefield, the former state rep from Pasco County.
But he may not get too comfortable, as the Times reported this morning (see below). Gov. Charlie Crist has said Littlefield and Arriaga, who was first appointed by Gov. Bush in 2005, are among the appointees that he is reviewing. Both men played down the possibility, saying they were focused instead on the work ahead.
"I accepted the oath of office today to fulfill the duties of a Public Service Commission(er) and will do that starting today at 1 p.m.," Littlefield said. He said he reached out to Crist's office and is willing to answer any questions.
Perhaps trying to hammer home his allegiance to the governor, Littlefield noted that he was among the first lawmakers to sign onto Crist's campaign, adding,"I certainly respect the man and the position he has staked out on this."
