Mack says violation of official mail privilege was 'unintentional'
A vendor that handled the taxpayer-funded mailer sent by U.S. Rep. Connie Mack took the blame and today wrote the U.S. Treasury a check for nearly $18,000 to cover the cost.
Mack wrote a letter today to the head of the Franking Commission saying any violation was "unintentional, and I can say with 100 percent certainty that it was not directed by me or my office. .... No invoice for production will be submitted, and absolutely no taxpayer dollars will be spent on this project."
His letter below.
