Mack's called shot: we will win by 1.4 percentage points
Forget those pesky poll numbers, at least one campaign in Florida is predicting it will win despite them.
Wait? You say that's not news? Well, take a look at the press release sent out by the Mack for Senate campaign. We think it's a rather loose link to his baseball heritage, a kind of Babe-Ruth-like called shot. (Maybe Mack's legendary great grandfather, Cornelius McGillicuddy, the former manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, passed down probability instincts of some sort.)
Specifically, the Mack Campaign predicts the following final results:
Connie Mack 49.1%
Bill Nelson 47.7%
Mack Campaign Manager Jeff Cohen said:
“Virtually every public poll shows that the race between Connie Mack and Bill Nelson has remained close and is now too close to call. Our own campaign’s internal data shows very similar and even stronger trends. Based on all the available data, we are absolutely confident that Connie Mack will win by 1.4% and will be Florida’s next U.S. Senator.”
