The Marco Rubio spin on Gov. Charlie Crist's fundraising
The problem with being as successful a money-raiser as Charlie Crist is that expectations tend to be huge. So the $2.4 million haul he reports for the last quarter would be great for any mortal politician (and the National Republican Senatorial Committee is touting it as a huge quarter for Crist), but not so much for Charlie Crist, who spent a lot of time at fundraising receptions in September.
Some of the spin we're hearing from Marco Rubio folks (This photo, by the way, is of a home not far from Crist's St. Pete condo): Rubio's numbers are growing, Charlie's are shrinking; Crist's supporters are mostly maxed out, while Rubio is relying largely on small donors who can give again and again; Much of Crist's $6.2 million cash on hand - perhaps more than $2 million - can't be spent until after the primary.
