ORIGINAL blog: Sen. Marco Rubio's 12-year-old daughter Amanda was injured in a motor vehicle accident earlier Saturday in Miami, his office said.

"She was airlifted to Miami Children's hospital. She is in stable condition," his office said in a statement. "Sen. Rubio was notified of the accident after coming off stage while campaigning with Governor Romney in Kissimmee, Florida. He is enroute to Miami."

Detail about the accident -- including what kind of motor vehicle was involved -- was not available Saturday evening. "Governor Romney spoke with Senator Rubio and expressed his concern and hope for Amanda Rubio's quick recovery," said campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul.

Rubio and his wife, Jeanette, have three other children: Daniella, Anthony, and Dominic.

Yahoo News reports that Rubio was on Romney's bus headed to the final event in Land O'Lakes and around 6:45 p.m., Romney's motorcade abruptly pulled off Interstate 4, and Rubio was seen exiting Romney's campaign bus.

"A moment later, Rubio hopped over a highway barricade, where a Florida Highway Patrol car waited. After standing outside the car for a few minutes, Rubio jumped into the patrol car, which sped away with its lights flashing," Yahoo reported.
