Martinez's final vote was against 'cash for clunkers'
Mel Martinez's last vote as United States senator came at 8:12 p.m. Thursday. It was against providing another $2 billion for the "cash for clunkers" program, which gives people up to $4,500 toward more fuel efficient vehicles.
The bill passed 60-37 and was signed into law Friday by President Obama. The mostly Republican opposition was cast as a stand against unchecked federal spending. (AP photo)
