Miami judge confirmed for federal appeals court

adalberto-jordan.pngThe U.S. Senate moments ago confirmed Adalberto Jose Jordan of Miami to serve on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, which hears cases in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Jordan will be the first Cuban-born judge on the circuit and is held in high regard. But his confirmation was briefly bogged down this week by wrangling by a few Republicans, who were trying to score other points. Florida Sens. Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio supported Jordan.

The Senate vote was 94-5.
