Miami's Christian Ulvert heads to White House
Christian Ulvert, a political adviser to Dan Gelber and other Democrats, will attend a White House reception Wednesday honoring LGBT leaders at the invite of President Obama. Ulvert is on the board of SAVE Dade, whose mission is to "promote, protect and defend equality for people in Miami-Dade County who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender."
“It is an honor to be part of a small group of leaders invited by President Obama to celebrate the important milestones reached in the effort to achieve equal rights for every American,” said Ulvert. “While the work to ensure the government never denies a single right to an American because of their sexual orientation is far from over, major accomplishments have been realized over the last few years. Even recent polling shows that for the first time a majority of Americans support policies that treat every American equal.
"I truly believe that more and more elected officials across the country recognize the important contributions made by the LGBT community, including a national buying power of more than $743 billion. For gay Americans, it’s all about equal rights with equal responsibilities, and being part of a strong economic base that yields growth in jobs and new economic opportunities for all.”
