Mica and Stearns' fates reflect mixed bag in Florida congressional results
We'll have to sort this out but the two headlines from Tuesday's Congressional primaries were Rep. John Mica's defeat of fellow Rep. Sandy Adams in central Florida and newcomer Ted Yoho's apparent victory over Rep. Cliff Stearns in north Florida.
The Mica-Adams race got national attention as a litmus test of establishment vs. tea party Republicanism. Score one for the establishment. Mica won easily.
The shocker was Yoho v. Stearns. Turnout was low and the primary was packed. Stearns, a longtime denizen of Capitol Hill, mixed it up good with Steve Oelrich when perhaps he should have been paying attention to the quirky, under-funded vet from Gainesville, Yoho. Score one for the tea party.
