Michael Bloomberg uses new PAC to drop big hammer on Dan Webster
Michael Bloomberg has handed a huge, last-minute headache to Orlando Rep. Dan Webster. The billionaire New York mayor is using his newly-formed PAC to drop $1.1 million in ads against the Republican. Mark Matthews of the Orlando Sentinel reports the amount nearly matches what Webster has raised.
Matthews notes that Webster challenger Val Demings has sided before with Bloomberg on gun control.
UPDATE: Webster camp responds:
“I’m sure the citizens of storm-ravaged New York City would feel less than pleased if they knew their Mayor, in the days immediately following Hurricane Sandy, spent $1.1 million on attack ads in a political race in Orlando, Florida," said Kirsten Borman, Webster campaign consultant. "Clearly Bloomberg cannot contain his nanny-state meddling to New York City, as he’s allowing his obsession with gun control to dictate his political priorities.”
