Mike Fasano (sort of) makes the cover of Rolling Stone
Alas, Mike Fasano didn’t get his smiling face on the cover of Rolling Stone. (Remember that old Dr. Hook song?) But he was quoted in a story teased on the cover of the latest issue. The headline? “The GOP campaign to block the vote.”
As Florida politicos might expect, the media-savvy state senator is scolding his Republican colleagues for recent election law changes. "No one could give me an example of all this fraud they speak about,” he told the magazine.
Fasano was one of two Republican senators to vote against the legislation that cuts early voting days and makes it harder for independent groups to register voters. The law also requires people to cast provisional ballots if they haven’t updated their address with election officials.
Fasano said he thought the article was a “bit biased,” though he wouldn’t expect otherwise from Rolling Stone, which has a liberal-leaning politics section. He said he doesn’t know of any proof that Florida’s legislation is tied to a larger national push. “I just know the bill we passed this year,” he said, “was a bad bill.”
