Mike Haridopolos raising money for U.S. Senate bid

He hasn't formally announced what every knows was a certainty, but Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos is already raising money for his campaign. Check out his new web site,

He's also scheduled a "private strategy session" for Feb. 3 in Orlando. Guests have been asked to raise $10,000 and bring it with them. (see fundraiser letter below)

We've also found what appears to be a more formal campaign site still under construction. But there does not appear to be a registered campaign account with the FEC.

On that site, Haridopolos writes,

"Washington needs to be transformed. It needs a reawakening of timeless American principles that brought us prosperity, success and and freedom from sea to shining sea. I'm running for the United States Senate to restore those principles in Washington, and put forth a positive vision of a Constitutionally-minded government that allows the American Spirit to flourish."

Haridopolos would be the first Republican to formally enter the race. Other likely candidates are George LeMieux, who is already seeking top political ad makers, and Rep. Connie Mack.

A source close to Mack argued this evening that Mack has time to make his decision but touted his name recognition and promised he would embark on "a very aggressive fundraising schedule in the near future." Mack is also scheduled to speak at the upcoming CPAC convention, a platform that elevated Marco Rubio.

Haridopolos fundraiser notice sent by well-known GOP coordinator Meredith O'Rourke:

Senator Mike Haridopolos asked that I invite you to a private strategy sessionon Thursday, February 3rd in Orlando to discuss his candidacy for United States Senate.  The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport at 11:00 am.

The Senator would greatly appreciate it if you would consider raising $10,000 to Friends of Mike H and have it in hand for the strategy session.

We appreciate your support and hope you are able to join Senator Haridopolos in Orlando.  Please let us know if you are able to attend.

Cris Flanders or I will be contacting you shortly to discuss further details.

Look forward to seeing you on the road to victory!
Warmest Regards,
