A Million More for Gallagher

Chief Financial Officer and gubernatorial hopeful Tom Gallagher announced Monday he'd raised $1.08-million in cash donations in the recently completed second quarter, roughly 60 percent of what his GOP rival, Charlie Crist, announced on Friday.

Cash on hand for Gallagher is $6.45-million, according to the campaign. Crist hasn't released his cash-on-hand number.

"I am humbled once again by the continued outpouring of support for our campaign," Gallagher said in the campaign press release. "Our contributors helped prove once again that Floridians respond to leadership, honesty, and straight talk – and I am grateful for their support."

All told, Gallagher has raised $8.7 million in soft and hard donations, roughly $3-million less than Crist.

Gallagher campaign chief Brett Doster couldn't resist taking a swipe at Crist: "We have exceeded all of our fundraising goals without having to raise money from special interests like liberal plaintiff lawyers and gambling proponents who are opposed to our Republican agenda."
