Movers and Shakers: New jobs for spokesmen and a state rep

Let's pretend you were on a Buzz-less vacation last week and didn't hear about two high-profile exits in the offices of Gov. Rick Scott and Senate President Mike Haridopolos. Scott lost spokesman Brian Hughes to the Republican Part of Florida, where he replaces DC-bound Trey StapletonAnd Haridopolos lost David Bishop, who has started a new job as deputy secretary for brand management at the Florida Lottery. No word yet on either replacement.

Another recent high-profile move? Veteran Tallahassee journalist Gary Fineout is leaving his job as managing editor of LobbyTools' Florida Current for the Tallahassee bureau of the Associated Press.

Our physical mailbox tells us Tom DiGiacomo, a Republican campaign worker-turned-legislative affairs director (though he wasn't mentioned in that story), left his post at the Department of Transportation to become executive director of the Florida Transportation Commission, which oversees the agency's budget and makes policy recommendations to the governor and Legislature.

The next two bits were first reported by the News Service of Florida. Carol Browner, former Florida Secretary of Environmental Regulation and Lawton Chiles aide, has joined Madeleine Albright’s firm, Albright Stonebridge Group in Washington. Browner was the Environmental Protection Agency administrator during the Clinton Administration and President Barack Obama’s Energy and Climate Change policy director. A University of Florida grad, she worked at the firm from 2001 to 2008.

Rep. Mark Pafford, D-West Palm Beach, is the new manager of special projects at GRD Solutions, a Dade City-based company that markets emergency management services to private companies and local governments. Pafford will work from GRD's South Florida office. He had worked for the Lord's Place, a non-profit focused on homelessness.

And Attorney General Pam Bondi has hired Cameron Ross, a former staffer of Mike Prendergast’s congressional bid in 2010 and Dick Greco’s run for Tampa mayor, to run her external affairs division, as first reported by Saint Petersblog.
