Brill to step down from Florida Chamber Foundation
Florida Chamber Foundation President Dale Brill will step down to start his own economic development practice.
“As I start my new business next year, I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving as a Foundation Trustee and to encouraging other business and community leaders to engage as well,” Brill said in a press release.
He plans to leave his three-year stint with the Chamber in January. Brill previously worked as director of transportation, tourism, and economic development for former Gov. Charlie Crist.
Florida Chamber President and CEO Mark Wilson will serve as interim president until a new foundation president is officially named.
“When I hired Dale to build our next generation Foundation, the Trustees and I were looking for a proven leader who understood Florida’s needs and who had the experience to design, build and manage a program that would serve as a positive change agent in securing Florida’s future,” Wilson said. “I couldn’t be more grateful for Dale’s contributions to the significant programs and community building capabilities being offered through the Florida Chamber Foundation. Dr. Brill and his team have been invaluable in positioning the Foundation for future growth. I’m honored he will remain as a Foundation Trustee and continue to help secure Florida’s future.”
Changes at the Office of Insurance Regulation
Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty announced that Jack McDermott will be the new Director of Life & Health Product Review at the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
McDermott will replace Suzetta Furlong, who’s moving to the Department of Management Services Division of State Group Insurance, according to a media release from the agency.
McDermott has 16 years of insurance regulatory experience, most recently as the director of communications.He has a master in public policy from Harvard University.
CoreMessage accounces changes
Following four years as managing director of Tallahassee-based CoreMessage, Jennifer Fennell has been promoted to vice president.
In addition to her leadership role, Fennell will manage client accounts.
Jamie Mongiovi recently joined CoreMessage as an account executive. Mongiovi, who previously served as a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Education, brings a decade of experience in education policy, legislative affairs, and public relations.
Florida Retail Federation loses Sally West
Florida Retail Federation director of government affairs Sally West is moving to Walgreen Company as the southeast manager of state government relations.
During her nine years with the Federation, West has helped pass health care price transparency legislation and expanded the availability of vaccinations at retail pharmacies, according to a media release.
West is a Tallahassee native and graduate of Florida State University.
“We are sad to see Sally leave our team, but we are also delighted that she will still be a part of our work in Florida,” said FRF President and CEO Rick McAllister.
At Walgreens, West will have direct responsibility for government relations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
New deputy at Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
Lisa Conti is the new deputy commissioner and chief science officer at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Previously, Conti worked with Global One Health Solutions, and she served in leadership at the Florida Department of Health.
