Adkins hires new aide
Rep. Janet Adkins, R-Fernandina Beach, has hired Jim Adams as an aide.
Adams served as lead supervisor at the Department of Children and Families in Jacksonville from 2001 to 2011 and on the Nassau County School Board from 1996 to 2011, according to a release from Adkins's office.
Adams also served five years as an investigator at the Department of Corrections in Jacksonville and advocated for the establishment of turnaround programs for at-risk youth.
"I feel greatly honored to have an opportunity to serve on the staff of Rep. Janet Adkins, representing the Northeast Florida community. Janet and her team have a reputation of tackling challenges with a level of energy, commitment and leadership," Adams said. "I look forward to being a part of the team. My goal is to deliver results on behalf of Rep. Adkins' office as she continues her service to our community."
Adams will begin his new role as legislative aide on Oct. 22.
Scott appoints cabinet affairs director
Gov. Rick Scott hired Michael Sevi as director of cabinet affairs. Sevi, a graduate of Harvard Law School, will oversee financial regulation, law enforcement, and insurance regulation among other things, according to a chart from the Governor's Office.
Sevi was previously Scott's assistant general counsel.
Dennis Ross taps new communications director
Polk County Republican Congressman Dennis Ross announced that Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Foti will also be the communications director for his congressional office.
Foti, an attorney, has a long history in Republican politics, representing clients before congress and working as director of external affairs for the Republican National Convention in 2008.Movers & Shakers is a roundup of personnel changes in Tallahassee.
