National GOP rainmakers helping Marco Rubio
Charlie Crist is counting on a massive financial advantage to fend off the threat from U.S. Senate rival Marco Rubio, though the records aren't yet available to know how much of his banked $7.5-million actually is available for the primary. ($6-million? $6.5-million. $5.5?) Whatever Crist's financial advantage at this point, THIS INVITE from a couple hedge fund honchos in should give the Crist campaign the willies. Rubio is not the only beneficiary of this Manhattan fundraiser, but it's a sign that some of the top GOP establishment rainmakers are getting behind former state House speaker.

Susan Ralson, the contact for the reception, was Karl Rove's former aide until attention to her ties with Jack Abramoff prompted her to step aside.
