A new Foreign accent
Someone is always the winner in politics, and today it was Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, who landed a spot on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs thanks to the minor shakeup among House Republicans.
Bilirakis, a freshman, had expressed an interest in international relations, and GOP leaders approached him about filling the committee spot left by Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., who moved to the Financial Services Committee to fill the spot of another Republican who stepped down after the FBI raided his family business.
The top Republican on the committee formerly known as International Relations is a fellow Floridan, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Bilirakis also serves on the Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs committees. He will be busy.
