New press shop opening in Tallahassee

A new player is joining the Capital Press Corps: News Service Florida, a Web-based, subscription-based service that will cover state government, politics, regulatory issues and the business of lobbying.

It will be run by David Royse, a veteran Tallahassee reporter for The Associated Press. Royse and three reporters will produce daily stories and briefs that will be published online and by e-mail. "The audience is intended to be associations, companies, lobbyists, politicians and anyone with an intense interest in what's going on in state government and in the business of dealing with state government," Royse tells the Buzz.

The service is being created by the owners of State House News Service in Boston. Royse will be moving into the Florida Press Center office formerly occupied by the Florida Times-Union. Coverage is scheduled to begin Sept. 8.
