Obama going to FPL solar plant in Arcadia
Gov. Charlie Crist, who took heat for appearing with Obama in Fort Myers earlier this year, will not attend, even though he too has touted renewable energy. "The governor has Cabinet on Tuesday," said spokeswoman Erin Isaac. She said she did not know if Crist was invited.
Obama was at MIT today touting renewable energy so the visit to Florida continues the thread. FP&L says the DeSoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center will be the largest solar photovoltaic plant in the country, consisting of 90,500 solar panels.
The president will give a speech but there will not be a public rally type event. News organizations, including the St. Petersburg Times, reported earlier that Obama might be going to Tampa. But apparently "Tampa" is White House code for Southwest Florida.
