Obama nominates Kendrick Meek for U.N.
President Obama has nominated former Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek as a representative to the Sixty-sixth Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, the White House said.
Meek left Congress to seek the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Mel Martinez. He lost in a three-way race with Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio. Since then, Meek has formed a consulting firm and was chairman of the editorial Board of Politic365, an online news source for policy and politics affecting communities of color.
