A postcard from Israel
On his last full day in Israel, Gov. Charlie Crist toured the Christian sites in Jerusalem. With a highly-visible state security detail augmented by armed Israeli police, Crist and his entourage didn't have to jostle for position in the crowded market district, where shoppers and merchants aggressively bargain over prices on everything from bracelets to rugs.
Crist crossed paths with a steady stream of Floridians, including Patricia Mickunas of St. Petersburg, a human resource officer for the city of Seminole. In every case, the visitor recognized Crist and called out his name, then asked to pose for a picture like this one (she's on the right).
Accompanied by a tour guide, U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, and members of his staff and several others on the Enterprise Florida-sponsored mission, Crist viewed the stations of the cross that mark the path to Christ's crucifixion and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, revered by Christians as the place where Jesus was buried.
