Probe of Tom Feeney dropped
Orlando Sentinel: After more than two years, the Department of Justice this week dropped an ethics investigation into former U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney of Oviedo, who was suspected of wrongdoing after taking a golf trip to Scotland with corrupt ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff. "The investigation is over and completely resolved in Congressman Feeney's favor," said Robert Luskin, a Washington attorney who has represented Feeney since 2007. Luskin said federal officials called his firm Thursday to confirm the news.
..."I don't think it was fair that [the Justice Department] left it as open-ended during his election as they did. To keep this going for more than two years and costing him a seat in Congress doesn't seem right," said Jason Roe, Feeney's chief of staff from 2003 to 2007.
"In the absence of this Abramoff situation, it was unlikely that Suzanne Kosmas would have dared to take on Tom in his last election," Roe added.
