Protesting death, students march on capitol
About 80 Tallahassee college students marched to the capitol Thursday to protest delays in the investigation into the death of Martin Lee Anderson. The 14-year-old died in early January after collapsing and being roughed up by guards at the now shuttered Bay County boot camp.
The students, who helped organize a much larger rally earlier this year, carried brooms to imply the investigation was being swept under the rug. They also plastered the front doors to the capitol with pictures of Martin (see example) and accused Gov. Bush of delaying the investigation until after the election.
But as recently as Tuesday, Bush said he too wanted to see the investigation wrap up. It is being handled by Hillsborough State Attorney Mark Ober.
