From the department of taking nothing for granted, U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Bartow, has two new TV ads airing before Election Day. Or maybe he's laying the groundwork for later.

In one, he extols his support for finding new sources of energy, including renewables and off-shore oil and gas drilling. The second highlights his support of legislation allowing small businesses to form associations for purchasing lower-cost health insurance. You can see them here.

Putnam, the third-ranking House Republican, is being challenged by Democrat Doug Tudor, a retired Navy master chief petty officer.
