Qualifying week begins

Qualifying week begins today and the Democratic candidates for governor are wasting no time.

Jim Davis arrived at Tallahassee airport at 8 a.m. with his two sons, his wife and her father. Davis expects to file papers at 12:15 p.m. then head out for door-to-door campaigning in the area. Rod Smith intends to show up at the Division of Elections about 1 p.m., then kick off a "Straight Talk and Real Change" bus tour that will take him across the state.

Republicans Charlie Crist and Tom Gallagher have plans to qualify later in the week, perhaps as early as tomorrow. Gallagher's campaign said he would be in the Tampa area Tuesday to pick up a "key endorsement."
