Reagan is now Pluto, 10 News reports (UPDATE)
After several tries, Times senior correspondent Lucy Morgan finally got through to someone at All Pets Grooming And Boarding, the Naples business that appears to be the key to locating Reagan, the dog Rick Scott adopted then gave back after becoming governor.
The person on the phone said that only the owner could answer questions, and that she would not be back until Thursday.
So, it appears we'll have to wait until then to learn more.
Scott was asked about his former first companion by television reporters on Tuesday. (About 2:20 into this clip.) Here's what he had to say: "During the campaign, we adopted a rescue Lab, I think he was about 7 years old. And he was the sweetest dog that you can imagine. But when he got in the mansion, he did not like everybody carrying things around. He barked, loudly at people, so I gave him back to the prior owner."
At that point, someone from Scott's press team ended the questioning.
Update: Our colleagues at 10 News in Tampa Bay were able to get through to All Pets owner Kelly Norman, they are reporting.
"Sometimes dogs don't fit right. I mean, they did try," Norman said. Reagan is now named Pluto, and apparently is living on a horse ranch.
