Rep. C.W. Bill Young forced to pull his only earmark
The earmark rules have changed again.
House Republicans will not allow earmarks that come under the label of military construction projects, a reversal of policy that means U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young will withdraw a $9.6 million request for MacDill Air Force Base.
"Military construction requests will be treated as earmarks and Members are advised not to request such projects, even if they represent valid military requirements that have been formally programmed by the military into the military service’s" full range plan, reads a revised memo from U.S. Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, ranking member of the Armed Services Committee.
Somewhere Gen. David H. Petraeus is ticked off. (background here)
