Rep. C.W. Bill Young says he'll be defense appropriations chairman
Rep. C.W. Bill Young says House leaders will grant him a waiver from term limits on leadership posts so he can chair the House appropriations subcommittee on defense. "Don't worry, I will take care of that," Young said incoming House Speaker John Boehner told him last week.
"That's the job that I know best," Young, 79, said in an interview moments ago.
Under Newt Gingrich in 1995, Republicans established six-year limits on committee leadership posts. Young, R-Indian Shores, was chairman of the full appropriations committee from 1999-2005 and oversaw the defense subcommittee from 1995-98 and 2005-06.
