Republican leader responds to FL 13 request
The top Republican on the U.S. House Administration Committee responded on Friday to the request by Florida Democrats for an investigation into the still disputed congressional race from the Sarasota area.
Rep. Vernon Ehlers of Michigan said some people are using the new information this week about a potential delay in recording votes on Sarasota's touchscreen machines to "once again raise alarmist claims."
But he cited a Florida-funded audit that showed the machines worked properly, and said it was the practice of his committee to wait until all pending lawsuits are complete before taking up a case. "I have no reason to believe that we should diverge from this standard in this case," he wrote in a letter.
