Rick Baker applies for St. Pete College post
As expected, outgoing St. Petersburg mayor Rick Baker has submitted an application to be St. Petersburg College's next president. Applications were due by midnight.
We're waiting to see who else applied ahead of the deadline. The college's board of trustees are now meeting to select an interim president. Former SPC administrator and Tallahassee veteran Tom Furlong is a possible favorite to lead to the college on a temporary basis.
Current president Carl Kuttler has said he plans to retire Dec. 31.
UPDATE 11 a.m. -- Trustees select Furlong as interim president. The other candidates were Anne Cooper, a college senior vice president, Syd McKenzie, college general counsel, and Kathy Sigler, a former administrator at Miami Dade College.
