Rick Scott removes Grand Ridge mayor from office in fifth executive order
Wright, according to the order, pled no contest to grand theft auto, a third degree felony, and was given three years probation. Former Gov. Charlie Crist had suspended Wright from office on April 16, two days after Wright was arrested.
During his four-year term, Crist suspended more than three dozen public officials from office for misconduct. It helped spark his request to the Florida Supreme Court to empanel a grand jury to investigate public corruption.
Their report was issued last week and Scott has ordered his general counsel to review the report and recommend changes that can be implemented with executive orders.
