Rick Scott signs teacher bill, again; promises more schools changes
Gov. Rick Scott inked his name to Senate Bill 736 Thursday in Jacksonville, but he held a ceremonial signing Friday in Tallahassee with lawmakers who pushed the measure through the Legislature.
"This is going to allow our educators to pick the teachers that are doing to pick the teachers that are doing the best job for the students," he said. "The next thing we've got to do is we've got to get charter schools expanded."
The governor didn't take any questions at the signing. He gave out blue Sharpies to legislators who posed for photos with him, including House Speaker Dean Cannon and state Rep. Erik Fresen, the Miami Republican and one of the bill's sponsors.
