After attending services at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks Beach, Rick and Ann Scott worked the Sunday brunch crowd at the outdoor cafes on St. Petersburg's sun-dappled Beach Drive.

"We're the largest city in the most densely populated county," Mayor Bill Foster told Scott, giving him a civics lesson by way of introduction.

For the next hour, Foster walked with Scott to a series of restaurants and a park where people were concluding a walk promoting breast cancer awareness.

Scott tasted sorbet from Cassis Bakery and posed for pictures with a lot of people, some dressed in colorful Halloween get-ups. Scott flashed a thumbs-up sign to a gaggle of supporters chanting, "Let's get to work."

"If we don't get the state back to work, we can't solve any problems," Scott told a group of outdoor diners.

"Go get 'em, Mr. Scott. Shake things up," Grant Tyson of Clearwater told Scott as his wife posed for a picture with the candidate.

Scott's campaign swing Sunday also takes him to Sarasota, North Port, Port Charlotte and Fort Myers.
