During the campaign, Gov. Rick Scott proposed to slash a property tax for schools by 19 percent --- a total cut of $1.4 billion or 1 mill. People criticized the plan as unworkable.

Turns out they had a point.

Scott's budget plan only calls for cutting the school required local effort by around $600 million in the first two years, a projected 8 percent reduction or a cut of .4 mills.  That rates a Promise Broken on PolitiFact Florida's Scott-O-Meter.

Scott promised to cut a total of 2 mills, or $2.8 billion from the state school levy over seven years. The cut he has proposed is significant -- significant enough that many are criticizing it -- but still well short of the cuts he promised on the stump.
