RNC announces Holly Barber as director of outreach and special events
The Republican National Convention Tuesday announced Tampa native Holly McGovern Barber as the convention’s director of community outreach and special events.
Barber’s background in conventions began in the communications department for the Republican National Convention in New Orleans, La. in 1988. The following year she went to the International Republican Institute as director of public affairs and special events. While at the institute, she also served as deputy director of the international program at the 1992 Republican National Convention.
Since moving to Tampa in 1997, Barber has volunteered and successfully chaired several local fundraisers. She has been at work with the convention for months, and among other things, has organized monthly trips by convention team members to charities around Tampa Bay.
